BEVERLY FARMS IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY
TThe Beverly Farms Improvement Society was incorporated approximately 50 years ago by local residents whose aim was to improve the Beverly Farms and Prides Crossing communities by enhancing and preserving their natural beauties. Today, the BFIS continues the original mission and has expanded its scope within the community. In 2009, BFIS kicked off “Operation Fix Dix”, a project to improve access to and facilities within our neighborhood park. Generous donations from neighbors, friends and the City of Beverly led to the installation of new tennis, sport and basketball courts at Dix Park, in addition to new landscaping within the park and improved access from Hale St. BFIS is grateful to the Townsend family who has donated a parcel of land abutting Dix Park allowing for another beautified and handicap accessible entry at Haskell Street with additional off-street parking. BFIS is also responsible for the design and maintenance of the library’s pergola pathway, the War Memorial Fountain, and the installation and maintenance of the black iron benches, trash receptacles and planters sprinkled through town. BFIS writes and publishes for free the coveted “Farms Flyer” with fun and local news for all residents. The Summer 2011 edition of the Farms Flyer is available here as a pdf file and the print version can be picked up while they last at many of the fine shops in downtown Beverly Farms. BFIS’s ultimate goal is to preserve the character of our village, making it a unique and enjoyable place to live, work and shop. A cared-for community is valued by residents, obviously, but is also coveted by merchants who bring desirable goods, services, and revenue to our community. A donation to BFIS will help to cultivate our town’s vitality and ultimately, promote desirability.
